Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" place. This West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a vast area that extends from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time there was short. Brugel grew to be a woman of a certain age in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. Her initial ambition was to be an actor, but after a sudden expansion, she and her partner weren't able to dance with her. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels, I'm 6 feet 1 inches." When I grew out of male companions and gave up, I decided to give up. There are many dancers who make the move to acting. For Brugel, it was her drama instructor who pushed her to go in this direction. She was encouraged to take part in an audition in her school's production. She was chosen to play the principal character for Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. In the last 20 years, Brugel's roles on TV and the big screen have been numerous. The role of Rita from the award winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was the only Canadian actor during Season 1 of the series, and only appeared on occasion.
